Hi there. I was wondering what those of you that have been using google checkout are planning to do for payment options before they close it in November? I'd love some help and guidence on this. It's been so nice not having a monthly fee and square up doesn't work on here yet, right?

Is there a way to integrate Braintree Merchant Accounts? Since Google Checkout will no longer be available, Braintree is offering special rates to Google Checkout users and doesn't require monthly fees like the merchant's ShootQ has listed . I created an account with Braintree thinking I might be able to use them as a "third party", however, they don't provide an external link…just API keys. This is all rather foreign to me since I've been using Google Checkout for the last 4 years!! Any suggestions, advice, or information on if Braintree will soon be a listed Merchant would be absolutely wonderful!! Thanks so much!

I'm also very curious about braintree integration. I relied heavily on google checkout for payment processing and would like to keep the same per transactions rates like braintree offers. The suggested vendors all charge a monthly fee thats many times what google was costing me. Someone? Anyone?
ShootQ has no immediate plans to add Braintree as a integrated Merchant.
@Robert. I don't know if Paypal had the "Advanced" option at the time, but can we use that integration or does it still have to be PP Pro?

Is there anytime soon that we see any further integrations coming along? I have been with Pictage/SQ for a while and while I know improvements require a budget, it seems that a lot of the lag time is costly. I am not a "jump" type of business person, so I like sustainability, but I love efficiency more. I know there are some concerns over the whole future of Pictage/SQ/Nimbus, but I think the time is NOW to seize on some opportunities with tech and the market.
It would be great to have all the integrations from paypal, or even Square, which a lot of us use on site. Just to name a few.

Braintree has a very well documented public API, I'm not a programmer, but it seems it would be pretty trivial to add them as an option using the transparent redirect form (https://www.braintreepayments.com/docs/ruby/transactions/create_tr). I have been happy with ShootQ, but adding another $35 a month for a merchant account is not an expense I want to add. Also, given the past track record of adding features requested by numerous users (see product options on client facing pages, for example), I wouldn't expect Braintree to be integrated anytime in the near future anyways.

There is a good number of us Cinematographers also using SQ and Many of us use SQUARE for our iPhone merchant app.
We have been using it for quite sometime and is there a chance it can be added before GOOGLE CHECKOUT/WALLET ends?

Our integrations connect through an API and unfortunately, this is not something that Square provides. As most of you know Square is designed to work on an Android, iPhone or iPad it's not done through an API. If Square changes it's platform allowing for an API integration, an integration would be possible.

We are always looking for ways to integrate and make your life easier. At this time there is very little we can do in terms of the integration with Square. Credit card processing fees are a cost of doing business, if you choose to accept credit cards. We want to help you keep your expenses down, if you are a Pictage member consider using P3 and if you are not look into Auth.net which you can sign up throughhttp://photographymerchantsystems.com. I think you will find rates very competitive to Square with a very nominal monthly plan ($10-15).

Thanks for writing in. While at this time you can sell items online from your store in the Square Market, you will not be able to use Square to accept payments online through your own website or any other third-party website. You will also not be able to integrate Square with any other systems. Although these features are on our roadmap, I cannot give you a specific date for when they will become available. We appreciate your patience.
For those of you that asked about Braintree, it is another merchant solution, similar to those we already offer. I listed Authorize.net above, we are also integrated with PayJunction, PayPal Payments Pro, Skipjack and Beanstream. Is there a specific reason you would prefer to use Braintree over one of the other merchant accounts listed? We are aware that Google Checkout is going away, the merchant accounts we are currently integrated with can replace it.
We do have a process in place for moving features into the queue to be reviewed. Any new features or changes require development and our challenge is simply one of timing. We review all technical ideas every few weeks and revisit new and old requests at that time. We have a variety of factors that go into the decision making process. We are constantly evaluating our users needs/requests, addressing bugs that pop up, regular software maintenance and integration upkeep.
Ever since Shootq was bought by Pictage, new features and upgrades have slowed down dramatically. Meanwhile other solutions like Tave & Pixifi have stepped up to fill the gap. I think it is about time that we all show Shootq what happens if they abandon a cloud product.
Is there another option besides google checkout that I can select that I don't know about. Am I basically being told that my clients can now only pay by cash or check? Or if they want to pay by cc I have to send out a separate invoice from the other service?
I think the reason Braintree is being brought up is because it's merchant account system is similar to google checkout. Plus it's offering a lifetime discounted rate for all google checkout users. Unlike the others, with Braintree you don't have to pay monthly fees, activation fees, ect, ect. Honestly…I just want something that is simple, easy for my clients to use and is no hassle. I once had an Authorize.net account and it was a complete hassle and headache. After 3 months of it, I dropped it. It was ridiculous. I'm in the application process right now with Beanstream…and even that is a pain. Not to mention trying to get ahold of customer service/sales rep is no easy task. I don't have Freshbooks, but I know I tend to pay a lot of invoices through there and I just saw that they have an API. Is Freshbooks and option? That would be amazing considering it's also accounting all in one! Not sure if it's even possible, but theoretically is sounds nice :)
Hi Caroline, ShootQ has made a lot of updates since being acquired by Pictage. If you want to follow the releases and updates more closely, you can subscribe to them at http://help.shootq.com/forums/171595-Releases-and-Updates. We have had a release every three to four weeks posted on our Announcements page. We have added new features such as Product Options Visible To Clients, Post-Booking Pricing Page, Appointment Schedules, New Nimbus Themes, Time Fields Update, Updated Lead API, Updated RedCart Integration and so much more. Subscribing to the updates will help to keep up to date with what we are doing.
Elaine, We are aware of the fact that Google Checkout is being retired on November 20, 2013. You do have options to be able to still process credit cards, but it will require you to get a new merchant account with a payment gateway.
Google Wallet will not be offering payment processing, as Google Checkout did, they suggest to transition to a different solution by November 20, 2013. To make things easier for you we already offer integrations with other popular payment gateways (processors), including Authorize.net, Beanstream, PayJunction, Pictage P3 and SkipJack.
If you setup a merchant account with one of the solutions that I mentioned above, you would be able to invoice and be paid directly through ShootQ. If you choose a payment gateway that we are not integrated with you would need to use the third party link or have them call you directly with the credit card information for you to process.
Wesleyann, thanks for the feedback, it is very helpful. We are looking into Braintree to see what options we have and what type of development it would entail. We are not looking at Freshbooks right now, but it's not to say that we won't be in the future.
@Wesleyann - was it Authorize.net giving you the hassle, or the merchant account underneath? We got set up with Flagship and Authorize.net and it's been absolute hassle free for over 8 months, and we use it for pretty much all our payments. http://www.flagshipmerchantservices.com. We don't do a lot of returns and complex transactions, so maybe that's why we have not had any headaches, don't know for sure. I just would not suggest everyone write off Auth.Net right off the bat. I think your middleman provider (ie Flagship in our case) can make the difference in your experience. They actually provided us with true per-transaction charges rather than tiered pricing. We had to show them we had a non-tiered pricing with our last provided, but once they saw it they offered the plan to us no questions asked. With a little pressure you could probably get it, too. I wish I could remember the technical term at the moment, but alas, I can't! I just know its the "other, more transparent way" of charging you for the transactions that is a lot more economical for some companies than tiered pricing (which works better for companies with small purchases). HTH
Erison-Wolfe Photography makes a really good point here. Not all merchant account companies are the same even if they are using Authorize.net. I personally had my Authorize.net account set up through http://photographymerchantsystems.com. They did a great job for me and have worked with a lot of other ShootQ photographers too.

I have not heard of any of our merchants using the site so I’m unable to offer any technical assistance with integration. Hopefully they will build out an integration with us in the future!"

Heather, unfortunately you were given some incorrect information from Braintree. There is no way that a Google search would have shown what we were doing behind the scenes in development.
