Calendar Colors!

Anyone else think that having more options for the calendar would be a great deal of help?

For instance...  I have 3 photographers and when a job is booked I would like the job on the calendar to show up as a color that represents the photographer that is shooting it.  Same thing with a consultation.  Or even the option of a different color based on shoot or meeting type (although secondary in importance to different colors for each photographer, at least for me...) Because we can book 3 weddings in one day, it gets a little confusing when we have 3 weddings that are labeled with the same color on the calendar.  Should be a simple and basic thing to ask.  My free CRM program does this as well as Outlook and every other calendar program I know!

  I agree, I use specific colors for specific meeting types and shoot types. I would love to be able to customize the colors accordingly! Old habits are hard to break, and I've used this color coded system for years now.

  It seems to me that we all would benefit from having this option available.  I agree with all the other Studios out there that have brought this to your attention.  It is so disheartening to love sooooo much about ShootQ and then not have you guys work on the issues or suggestions we have.  Our studio is part of a huge networking group of photographers and other vendors that regularly discuss the benefits of ShootQ/Tave/Succesware/StudioCloud/etc.  We would love to be able to say 100% positive things about ShootQ, but how can I tell others that you actively address our concerns, when you don't even have an appointed employee to comment on our concerns or give us feedback.  It's actually comical.  At least pretend that our voices are heard.  As stated by other Photographers in regards to this same suggestion, this isn't a free software we are working with here.  We are paying clients looking to get the most of the Studio Software we are using.  Please don't ignore another client's concern.  Let's get moving on this so that we can use this software to the best of it's potential.  Don't let your clients have a bigger better potential then what you are providing.  If our clients had a bigger drive to create a better product, we would be out of business!

  Thank you Catie for saying what we've all been thinking!  I've spent thousands of dollars on ShootQ, and it's been almost three years before someone from ShootQ actually responded!

  Keana I appreciate someone finally getting back on this suggestion.  Seeing that this is a standard feature in every free CRM / calendar program I know, I think it would be a fairly easy fix for a rather large issue.  I've kept my eye out every three weeks for the last three years of updates and haven't noticed anything yet...

  Thanks Dezember for the acknowledgment! It's funny how fast they respond when they realize we need to be heard.  I'm looking forward to seeing this come about and will be checking diligently for updates on the forum!  Let's all be sure to keep prodding them for the change!

  Just wondering if there's any progress on this yet? It would be a massive improvement for us, we have 4 staff which includes 3 shooters, so having either appointment types or staff as different colours would be great!

  Of course there's no progress this, it's only FOUR YEARS OLD. Haha.  Maybe in ten years??

  There hasn't been any progress on this yet. I've sent this idea over to our developers again. I understand how valuable this would be, especially for studios like yours. 

  We do have a process in place for moving features into the queue to be reviewed. We review all technical ideas every few weeks and revisit new and old requests at that time. We have a variety of factors that go into the decision making process. We are constantly evaluating our users needs/requests, addressing bugs that pop up, regular software maintenance and integration upkeep.

  I'd like to encourage everyone once again to submit feature requests to ideas@shootq.com. These go directly to our developers and they do get read as they are submitted.

  I am again emailing your suggested contact for this update.  As our studio adds additional employees and photographers every year to our team, the lack of availability on this becomes more and more of an inconvenience for us!

  I only posted this over FIVE YEARS AGO and still no response. Such a simple thing to do, and no desire from ShootQ to help out growing studios.

  Hi Everyone,

  As you can imagine we receive hundreds of feature requests and we simply cannot implement all of them. They are prioritized by our development team based on such things as usefulness to the largest user base, ease/difficulty of implementation, cost of implementation, etc. We go through a lengthy process to prioritize them and the ones with the highest priority get worked on first. The Calendar Colors feature simply has not made it to the top that list. In the past few months we have implemented other features that been requested by users including visual workflow, ShootProof integration, sunrise/sunset times, etc. We are currently working on re-designing the website to make it more user friendly and more mobile responsive. Perhaps the calendar color request can be included in that re-design. I'll submit it to the rest of our team again so that we can consider it.

  Hi Travis,

  We've already begun working on re-vamping the website. As you can guess, it is no small undertaking and will take many months to complete. The way some of the current architecture is coded prevents us from easily implementing certain features and we're currently assessing those back end sticking points. We should have more details about the project once WPPI rolls around in March. Stay tuned!

  Our studio is excited to know that more change is to come! We also agree with the request of having a more user-friendly, color-optional calendar.

  It's only been SEVEN YEARS since this has been suggested, with multiple studios wanting/needing the same improvement. And still nothing. ShootQ hasn't changed in ten years and it's disheartening.
