Is there a way to discount prices for a specific shoot with out having to change all my current pricing. Something like a discount code the client could enter on the payment page?

Unfortunately, I think you'll have to manually change the prices for each package yourself. I think the easiest way to do this is, when you are creating the proposal click ""Build a customized version" In the Package Price box just put in your adjusted price.
I have just been getting more accurate with my product prices, so I like manually adding the discounted prices. I can see the profit margin before they book.
You could also book it at full price then add a discount to the invoice.
Thank you so much!!
It would be nice if we did not have to build a customized package in order to give a discount. All that needs to be added is the price with an open text field on the page that lists all the packages - pre-filled with the package price but can be changed easily without modifying the contents of the package.
Agreed, a discount code would be a great sales tool as well.
This is an old thread, but I'd like to reiterate the need to be able to discount items. I give a percentage off of the albums when included with contracted package and I'd like it to show that it IS a discount and not just the price.....can we add that please?! :)
Yes Please!! This would be a great tool!
I would love the option to add a discount to show the clients the "original price" then the "discounted price". If we just change the price by the discounted amount the client doesn't always see the VALUE in what we did for them. I've been adding the discount at the end but it seems that sales tax is added on so they actually pay taxes on the full amount and not the discounted version. Please SHOOTQ make adding discounts easier!! Thanks.
YES! Please! I highly recommend fixing this so that sales tax is added correctly. The sales tax should NOT be figured on the original (pre-discounted) price, but be charged for the discounted price. The sales tax needs to accurately be figured from what they ACTUALLY PAID. Thanks.
Agreed! This would be so nice!
Hey Q'ers.
Interesting thread. I think the way to handle this would be to build a system of discount codes that you could allow customers to apply to certain shoots and not others.
The pricing page could have a field where the user could enter a discount code. There could be rules about what discount codes are allowed based on shoots and/or users. You could also set a specific discount code to be pre-populated in the discount code field, again based on logic by user and shoot.
@Janet - the sales tax thing is tricky. Certain states (I think California is one) require you to calculate sales tax against the full-retail price of the item before discounts. Other states don't. Building that concept into the system adds complexity and makes my head hurt really, really bad!
Is there any way to create a product/service with a negative value that is editable in the package builder? I would love this!
Justin,
Also to Debbie's point, it would be nice to have the ability to show a discount on a pre-configured package. For example, when a client books us, we discount products included in a package 10%. I'm testing ShootQ now and currently use (can I say this here) Tave, where a discount product kind is available to allow negative values. This allows me to have two discount "products", one for taxable items and one for non-taxable items. With ShootQ I'll need two items for each product and I have no way of tracking discounts.
Even better would be a product item/discount code that I could add to a package that tells the system to discount an item in a package one line up a certain percentage. I actually do this with QuickBooks when I create the actual invoice for a client, and it saves a ton of time.
Thanks.
Justin,
Another thought. If you're considering adding discounts, would it be straight forward to add credit memos at the same time? Your going to have to allow negative product/service prices in this case, i.e., when a customer has a credit and they want to purchase something, the price of the product would be debited from the credit.
Thanks.
Justin,
Where are we on this discount field for ShootQ? Also California DOES NOT require you to tax on the full retail price before discount unless you are being reimbursed by a third party.
Thanks
Plus one for me on easier discounting. Really, I'd like the ability to change the price of items on an invoice without having to create a brand new item each time. My disc of high res images, for instance changes price with every shoot based on a number of considerations. I have to create a new product each time for the disc to put in the correct price.
I think it clear that pretty much all shootQ users provide discounts for their clients in some way and this feature is just not integrated into the shootQ system. Let's fix that shootQ. thanks.
ShootQ - When will this feature be added? Desperately needed!
Hey ShootQ People,
It's five months since we've heard anything on this topic from ShootQ, and I'm not sure what to make of your silence. I think it's pretty clear from feedback on this topic that discounting of individual items on an order/invoice is badly needed. I would go so far as to say that it's a glaring oversight of basic functionality.
If you're going to provide a community forum I don't think it's too much to ask for a response from you, even if the answer is "no." It's been five months!
Thanks,
-ric.
Amen! All I really want is the ability to change the price of an item on the package creation screen just like I can change the quantity. This would allow us to have flexible pricing, as well as allow us to give discounts on individual items.
My Digital Image disc ALWAYS cost a different amount, and many of my items are priced on a per-shoot basis. I currently have DOZENS of nearly identical items in my product list, just so I can apply the correct price to the item.
PLEASE shootQ! At least let us know that you hear us!
Yes, please let us know if you can make this happen! This would be extremely helpful, and would definitely make our own promotional campaign much easier. Ric mentioned above (more then 5 months ago) that Tave does this, so I will be looking into that. Would love to see this in ShootQ though.
Another topic almost 2 years old with no response from ShootQ. The silence is deafening.
This is an ongoing frustration for us. We offer 10, 20 & 30% discounts on our three packages, so either an overall percentage discount after the NET total to recalculate the grand total would be great - or just an extra column which would default to 0% discount, which users could just put a discount into... Seems like a simple function to add - I'm surprised this discussion is being ignored by you guys at ShootQ. Disappointing considering the amount we're paying to use this software.
+1
agreed, another needed ability...
I agree! With my packages I give my clients an "Album Credit" to be applied towards any album they like. I dont know how to do this in the program and would love to have that option.
I too would like to see this option. I am currently running advertisements with promo codes and would like to give my prospective clients the ability to enter a promo code at the time they are building a package so they can see their promo code slash that balance down. It's a psychological thrill for people to be in control of saving money. I could do it myself but it's much better when the client can do it for themselves. other sites do this so i'm not sure why the delay or the feeling that this is too complicated. ShootQ if you don't know how to do this then simply learn how. It's not new technology other sites do this already so the ability is there.
When building your packages, you can use pre-made packages, and just edit the price for that particular client.
You will find the ability to create "gift credit" in Pictage, but not coupons.
Thanks for the tip David, but this doesn't at all fill the void of discount codes or coupons. . I think it is safe to assume that the average user understands how to adjust their prices on the fly. However, changing the price we offer a particular client is far from offering universal coupons or discount codes as incentives to book during a certain time period, or for a specific sales event. Pictage uses these sales tactics all the time to solicit our own customers to buy more prints (and make more money for themselves), but I don't understand why it has taken ShootQ so many years to make this available to us. The "gift credit" in Pictage is also not at all useful in this sense.
You are right, and ShootQ does need a revamping something bad.
What can be done to make up these special "coupons" or "packages" for special offers, is create a few small packages to go along with a shortened add on list. This would be easily changed as you want to change your special coupon or packages.
I know, not what you are wanting to do, but it is at east a way t go about it with the tools they have given us so far.
Will take a little bit more time but it will at least work for you. Maybe make a pricing page just for "specials" and have it easily accessible by clients. Duplicate your packages, change the price to reflect the coupon discount, and there you go.
Trust me, if I had a say in it, there would be lot's of changes made to this thing.
I would love to see something like this and soon please!
We are a Canadian photography company and we were really excited to see the addition of Stripe recently, seeing as our options to collect payments in Canada are quite limited. After setting up our Stripe account we discovered that ShootQ only processes payments in US dollars. We would really like to be able to offer our clients the option to pay online. It's a shame that now that we have a way to accept payments shootQ is the barrier for making this happen.
