Hi Guys -

 

Love the new calendar features.  New forum... not so much.  The simplest forum in the world is just a vBulletin or something similar.  This is what people want from you for a forum.  What you delivered seems like a slightly nicer layout to the genius thing you had before.   I honestly don't see people really using this a lot.  I could be (and hope) that I'm wrong.  To see what the forums SHOULD look like, go here:

It should only take about 10 minutes to install and completely configure.  If you have to install a few mysql (or similar) backend, maybe 30mintues to an hour.  This is the way to go.

 

Just my opinion.

  Tom, I have a feeling this is good as it gets buddy.  Also, you have to admit, this is 200% better than what we had.  Now if they would simply divide the forum into categories, I think I can handle the fact that I can't edit a previous post.

  I'll chime in on this one.  While we at ShootQ are big fans of vBulletin and other similar, more mature forum software solutions, a big priority of ours in a forum is the ability to authenticate our users and correlate their discussions to our actual customer data.  

  In addition to being a huge improvement over our old forums, this new forum provides our support representatives with the ability to seamlessly escalate forum posts into support issues and look up customer data on the fly within the context of forum posts.  With something like vBulletin or PHPBB, we'd have to spend developer time writing a custom integration which would allow our software to connect to a vBulletin installation and vice-versa.  We'd much rather spend our time writing exciting new features for you all and offload some of our customer support infrastructure to a company that's already good at solving the problem - this is the same reason you yourselves use ShootQ!

  While the new forum isn't as mature or featureful as some other solutions out there, it provides us with an integrated experience that helps us serve you better, and we think that's a good trade-off.  While we're certain that this forum will improve over time, our main priority in the short-term is a system which allows us to provide a cohesive, efficient customer service experience so that we can serve you as easily and as quickly as possible.

  That's good enough for me Ryan.  You would be suppressed how much a little feedback improves communication and prevents hard feelings.  Thanks for taking the time to explain that.
