ShootQ Update - Google Calendar Feeds - January 7, 2014

It has been reported that ShootQ's calendar feeds are no longer syncing with Google Calendar.  We are aware of the issue and are diligently working to get the Google Calendar sync issue resolved.  We have completed the coding for the fix and it is in QA right now.

It is not affecting all calendar feeds and the ones that are affected will only affect jobs booked within the last week.  We will be posting more information about how to update your calendar feed as soon as the fix is live.  The two reports we had of it not working in iCal were unrelated to this issue and were isolated.  If you are experiencing an issue with iCal syncing please report it immediately by submitting a ticket, we will have our development team investigate.  Be sure to include pertinent information the specific shoot name, shoot date, the date it was booked (if it's a booked job), are you seeing this for both leads and booked jobs, and what computer and operating system are you working on, etc.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.  We value you as customers and we understand how frustrating this is for you and your daily operations.  We will post again with a progress update.  We are working to have this resolved by the end of the day tomorrow, if not sooner.

Sincerely,

Katie Van Buren

We have made this our number one priority and have all hands on deck working to resolve the issue.  Google made an update, causing this issue to arise.  It is not affecting all Google Cal users.  This is not something we are taking lightly.

Our developers are diligently working on it and are testing the fix right now.  We are ensuring that the fix that is put in place is better and more reliable.  Unfortunately it's not a simple fix, it's one that is taking a little more time to code and pass QA.  Our first round of QA reported a small issue with the new code, which we need to address, before we can release it.

We are working late into the night in order to start testing it again in QA.  We will continue to post updates as we have them.  We really do value you and all of our customers at ShootQ and sincerely apologize for all the inconveniences has caused.

Will you please notify us when this update is live so we do not have to re-check this?

    Important Google Calendar Update

We have spent the last few days working diligently to troubleshoot and repair the Google Calendar syncing issue many of our users have been experiencing. A number of people have reported that new booked jobs are not populating from their ShootQ calendar subscription into Google Calendar.

On Thursday, January 9, we pushed out a release to improve the stability of our calendar feed. We have continued testing in Google Calendar with inconsistent results from Google.  Unfortunately, we don't have any control over the way Google is handling the calendar feeds on its end.

We have discovered that this is a widespread issue for Google users, well beyond ShootQ. It is possible that the new calendar updates might take a few days to populate throughout Google's infrastructure.

If you use calendars that "live" in Google, you are probably safe to continue doing so. However, if you are a ShootQ customer and need to add a calendar by URL, this reported issue persists and is beyond our control. Our developers have contacted Google regarding the issue, but we have yet to receive a response.

We will keep you posted as we learn more about this issue and Google’s response to it. In the meantime, please keep an eye on your calendars and events to ensure your appointments are reflected and nothing gets missed. You may need to keep a temporary backup solution in place until this issue is resolved on Google’s end.

We apologize for any inconvenience and will continue to do everything we can to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

    Sincerely,

    Katie Van Buren

Everything does appear to be syncing for us. I don't know if that means the problem is fixed or not but just so you know from our end. Thanks!

My existing calendar feed to Google is working fine.  I am having the issue with adding a new leads feed and adding a feed to another Google account.  I found that if I copied the url from my existing feed and used that in the other Google account instead of the URL ShootQ is currently showing me it works fine.  Doesn't really help anyone who is trying to add a feed for the first time, but...

@Katie Van Buren - I use Zendone (www.zendone.com) for my daily task managment.  They have integrated both Google Calendar and Evernote quite fluidly.  Events that are edited show up immediately in Google Calendar when created, or changed.  Perhaps ShootQ can reach out to them regarding their ability to integrate.

My calendars were syncing properly again until late last week. Now they aren't syncing any more. I do understand that this is an issue on Google's end but there's got to be a way to sync, especially if other programs had similar issues and had them resolved.

Does anyone know if there's a ShootQ app for Droid phones that I can download? I'm not finding it in but it would be EXTREMELY helpful since my calendars aren't syncing....

@Danielle - This issue can't be resolved by us directly because our part is working, it's due to the fact that Google is the one having the issues.  You can read more about it here http://help.shootq.com/entries/26406045-Important-Google-Calendar-Syncing-Update.

@ Kristina- Unfortunately, there is not a ShootQ app for a Droid phone.  Sorry we don't have a easy solution at this point and time.  We give suggestions through the link I provided above.
