Nimbus has introduced widgets, little snippets of code that allow you to add dynamic content to your Nimbus site. Widgets work with your theme to add content in various places, like your blog sidebar or your homepage. The location of your widgets will vary based on your theme.
To add some widgets to your Nimbus site, first go to the Widgets Control Panel:
On the left, you'll see widgets that are available to you. On the right, you'll see a target zones where you can place your widgets. Note: these zones change based on your theme.
Just drag and drop widgets from the left to right to add them to your site. To remove them, drag them from the right side back to the Available Widgets. You can also drag them within the placed widgets zones to rearrange them.
Widgets
Below you will see the widget configuration user interface in the control panel, followed by the widget on a live site (in this case, it is the Crystallized theme.)
Social Media Share Menu: This adds an orange "Share" icon to your site that, when clicked, allow visitors to share links on various social media.
Social Media Links: Adds a smaller set of social media for visitors to share links.
Search: Allow visitors to search for content on your Nimbus site.
Gallery Preview: Adds the most recent gallery cover images to your site. You can choose how many to show. They are shown from most recent to least recent.
Twitter: Add your Tweets to your Nimbus site. Specify the Twitter handle and the number of Tweets (newest to oldest) to show.
Popular Posts: Display the most popular blog posts from your site, and specify the number of items to show. Posts are sorted by the most popular (most comments) to less popular. Posts with no comments will not show, so if you have only one post with comments, it will be the only one to show up, even if you specify more items in the drop-down.
Tag Cloud: Tags from your blog posts, galleries, images and pages are displayed in a cloud. The more frequently a tag shows up, the larger the tag in the cloud.
Recently Updated: Show the most recently updated pages, blog posts and/or galleries on your Nimbus site. You can define which of these elements show up in this widget. You can also specify the number of items to show, listed from newest to oldest.
