How do I integrate my Showit sites contact form?

Please note: As of November, 2011, ShowIt sites no longer supports ShootQ contact form integration. We are attempting to contact ShowIt to provide integration support again in the future.

Showit Sites has an overlay mode, where you can embed an HTML page into your Showit Site. Simply create your link to the ShootQ form as usual, but instead of selecting open in a new page/window, select open in overlay mode. This way, when the lead clicks on the link for the form, it will open up as an overlay over your website without the client leaving your site.

You can also use the Lead Via Email method to integrate your Showit contact form. You can have the contact form information initially sent to your studio email address. If your email provider allows you to create a filter, you can then configure a filter that auto-forwards the ShowIt email from your studio address to the ShootQ Lead Creation email address. This will automatically generate a lead in ShootQ. Learn to set up an auto-forwarding filter in Gmail. NOTE: With this method, the contact form email sent from ShowIt must be a text email (not HTML).

It wouldn't let me overlay it.  I did, but after publishing it would not pop up.

It would appear that our previous integration with ShowIt no longer works. We will contact ShowIt to try to get it working again.

Please help here.  This is ridiculous that ShowIt isn't integrated easily.  Get on it ShootQ!

We're amenable to working with ShowIt on an integration, however our attempts to communicate with ShowIt are not reciprocated. I'd suggest making some noise with ShowIt and tell them that you want a better integration, and tell DJ or (better yet Todd) to email me at andrew@pictage.com.

    Hey Andrew,

I am another showit user who is really dying for an integrated contact form.  I contacted showit today, and this was their response:

    Hey Graham,

Thanks for your feedback. We actually have already provided an API for any company to create a widget that can be used on Showit. Other companies including Pixifi have used this to create a custom form that connects with their service.

Our API (programming connection) has been available since we launched. Feel free to request that ShootQ consider using it to create a contact form their users can use: http://wiki.showitfast.com/Plugin_API

Let me know if you have any other questions. We're here to help!

    Hey Folks,

We would love for you guys to work with Shootq on integrating your contact form. We are one studio of many who are eagerly awaiting this feature, and the shootq guys are totally up for it (see this post on the shootq help hub: http://help.shootq.com/entries/195414-how-do-i-integrate-my-showit-sites-contact-form ). Pretty PLEASE! You guys rock, and so does shootq, so why not play nice?

    Thanks! :-)

Does this mean the ball is in your court?  To be honest, we don't care about having a showit contact page, but we would really like to be able to have custom fields in the contact form.  Any chance you guys are working on that?

    Thanks for being awesome!  :-)

The overlay still work for Showit-ShootQ. Just make sure you use the actual URL to the contact form, the one under "View Contact Form:".  For example, mine is    http://david-medina-photography.photosit.es/contact

I just tested it and it works just fine.

But I rather look at solutions like what competing  Pixifi did. They created a plugin for Showit that allows actual contact form integration.

Mike, Yes you can. The instruction at the top still work fine. Just take the link to your shootQ page and create an external link using the overlay function on Showit. I have tried several time and it works perfectly.

They are at the top. Spite of the warning, it still works. I checked as recently as two month ago.

PLEASE make this work with ShowIt. I don't want an overlay window, I spent a lot of money to have my site custom designed and I want our clients to use the form on our site.

ShowIt says you are able to make a widget to use with their site.

I have been using the overlay method for a couple of years now and more and more I'm getting emails from people telling me that "my contact form isn't working" ... I'm scared to think of how many people are giving up instead of just emailing me for more information. I'm guessing people are getting errors because of outdated web browsers, etc., but there are millions of people out there with outdated web browsers!

I don't want to use overlay anymore, and I can't believe after all this time we still don't have another option!

We have been using both ShootQ and Showit forever now and been using the 2 together.

We created our own form in Showit using the ShootQ labels to get the info in the right fields in ShootQ lead.  Submitting the form in Showit goes to our email and our email is setup to filter the form and forward to the ShootQ lead email so the data gets transfered to ShootQ. We get a couple ShootQ couldn't handle the lead when someone doesn't put a date in our form field, but it has worked for us.

James, I do the same thing but I've never been able to get it to put the right event date in. For some reason it always auto-populates the event as the day the e-mail was received instead of the date the client puts in the date field. I've used every ShootQ field they have on their list but none of them work. What are you using?

You have to hold their hand and tell them what to put. It has to be in the format mm/dd/yyyy.   Label is:  Event Date

Thanks for the forwarding idea, James. That was tremendously helpful. I'm having the same problem as Nyk, though. I even tested out myself using the mm/dd/yyyy format and it still populated with today's date. Any other ideas?

Our current fix is adding a rule to our e-mail that forwards show-it contact e-mails to our shootq new lead e-mail. Voila!
