[Feature Request] Timelines

Hey,

Just brainstorming here, what do you guys think about building in a feature where the Bride & Groom can set up a timeline for you, that is based on the number of hours in the package (or all day coverage).

Kind of like a questionnaire but in timeline format and intuitive.

THIS WOULD BE AWESOME! To build on this, I think it'd be great if the photographer would be able to work parts of it too and then the bride/groom can make changes. So often, I have to help them build it. It would be so cool if there would be a dynamic way to do this with live updates. Right now, I'm staring at the WORKSHEET I'm making as a questionnaire and trying to come up with a way to get the timeline in that form. GRRR.

This would be an amazing addition / feature.

I envision it working like the Workflow engine where each "milestone" is an event throughout the day.  The client could drag and drop to reorder the milestones to build their wedding itinerary.

They could be provided with a default Wedding Itinerary Template when connecting to the customer-facing Client Area as well.

I'd really like to bump this request as I think it can be an awesome feature and quite easy.  Just have a 'bucket' of different phases of a wedding day that the bride can drag into a timeline setting and set specific times against it.

Like the list would contain little draggable labels:  Bridal Prep, Ceremony, Reception, Outdoor Formals, Family Photos, etc.  They drag a label to their 'timeline' section from the bucket list and set a start time and duration and shootq puts everything in order.  Maybe even let them tag the label in the timeline with a location.

Thanks,

Kelly

Editable TIMELINE is the most important feature missing in my opinion. The option to add location(s) with address, time, description/notes for each location. it should be able to be printed, or emailed, or shared to the shooters. i spend hours every week creating a timeline for my shooters that looks like this :

bride name and groom name
xxx-xxx-4594
xxx-xxx-5441

Bride Prep
2303 [xxxx] St, Brooklyn, NY 11234

Groom Prep
2395 [xxx]St, Brooklyn, NY 11223

St xxxxxx Church
1230 xxxxx Street, Brooklyn, NY
(718) 236-0909 ‎

xxxxxxxx Country Club
728 xxxxxx Road
Woodland Park, NJ 07424

10:30am - adam starts with bride prep
10:45am - rj starts with groom prep

1pm - rj, bobby, adam arrive at church
2pm - ceremony - no mass
7pm - cocktail
8pm to 12:30am - reception

Everyone uses timelines yet we all have to do it manually on our own.
The locations should be searchable relationships so that when a bride asks "have you shot at this church....?" you search for it and see you were there on so and so date.

I don't know a single wedding photographer or videographer who doesn't use some form of timeline. I think ShootQ is designed so photographers don't have to deal with clients and then they stopped working on features. we also need some kind of customizable inquiry form as well. The one they have now is total ass. I payHow about a spot to get the groom's name so when I make the sales call I can start calling by their first name? Wanna see what a REAL contact page is supposed to look like go to http://kennethstillmanvideo.com/contact.html

I pay $10 a month to http://www.emailmeform.com/ and I can make a totally customizable form.

Agree! This would be phenomenal. Would love to have general timeline questions for the bride and groom to fill in, and then the we make the timeline and it can be approved or modified by the bride and groom.  Currently, we do this through a questionnaire, asking if they are going to do First Look photos, bridal party photos ahead of time, when they are arriving on site to get ready or at a hotel to get ready, etc.  It would be awesome to have a timeline format though!!

Thank you ShootQ!

Yes, Timelines are intricate part of our work. I end up putting it into the "create note" section, so it can be printed, but then ALL the notes are there, that's not great either. Just a simple "This time- do this type". The recent ability to add the attachments to emails has been fantastic!! Thank You Shootq!

A timeline is ESSENTIAL! I've just started using ShootQ and am very happy with it aside from this CRUCIAL feature that is missing. The most important part of a wedding day is knowing where & when you need to be - clients should be able to enter their timeline/locations/contact numbers into ShootQ for the photographer and we should be able to edit this info as needed and then print the timeline out. Makes NO sense that you can't add additional locations.

Does anyone know if TAVE has a timeline option? I may consider switching if it does!

I can't believe shootq didn't put this in right from the start. It's a no brainer.

i'm seriously thinking of quitting shootq all together because of that lack of this functionality.

I have gone to customer service about this, and they told me to add in the bride & groom preparation address details I need to add another event. WHAT THE?
SHOOTQ THIS IS ALL PART OF THE SAME EVENT. Also, you cannot distinguish between appointments and events.

This would be great, I currently create one in word and would love to do it in shootq. Also, it would be great if all of our locations were stored and then the next time we have an event at that location all we would have to do is type the name and it would pull the rest of the info from our contact list. This would be awesome everywhere in shootq from wedding locations, to meeting locations to portrait locations.

ShootQ

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know we've been reviewing this internally.  We definitely see the need to have some sort of agenda for the day of the event.  We're working on the internal workings to make this happen.  The first thing we're doing is improving event locations.  These will soon be true address fields instead of just a line of text.  Right now this is scheduled for mid-late November.

The next major release is currently set to improve event locations further by allowing them to be configured on a per shoot type basis.  We're still in the planning stages for this so we're working out all the details still.  After that's complete, we'll be able to focus more on a day's agenda feature.  In our discussions, it seems we can solve this problem with some functionality similar to the existing questionnaires and marking specific questions as visible on the shoot overview.  I'd love to hear more of your ideas!

Hi Justin,

I think that if we can give our client's drag and drop functionality using components so they can visually create their own timeline would be awesome. JUst like how we can drop and drop our questionnaires in the settings menus.

On the right hand side there can be a bunch of 'components/blocks' (Reception, Ceremony, Formals, etc).  They can take a component and drag it into their timeline and then set the duration of that component.

Ceremony - 30 minutes (9:15 - 9:45)

Formals - 1 Hour (10:00 - 11:00)

etc

This way they can drag/drop in the order of their agenda for the day, and set the durations and submit to us :)

Justin I am SOOO glad that you guys are trying to work this into the ShootQ mix. We have found it extremely helpful to send our brides a photography timeline for the wedding day. We do just about everything in ShootQ with this exception. We are having to make a word doc and turn it into a PDF file and attach it to an email (SUPER glad you guys enabled attaching files to email. so awesome!) As far as this timeline feature goes, I don't know how your internal stuff is set up. It would be great if we could create some type of document within ShootQ that can have changes made to it. Similar to the Questionnaires but we could select specific times to the minute and then input a "task" so to speak such as "3:00 -- Photographers arrive, 3:15 -- Bride puts dress on, 3:25 -- Photographers and Bride and Groom head to the First Look location" etc.

We would send this as a draft to our couples and, if we need to make changes we can open up this doc and change times and/or the order of items. The moving items around and changing the prices and descriptions in the pricing and packages section is super cool and I could see this being helpful in this area. If we could also save the timeline for future use just as we can the package info, that would be really cool since so much of what we do tends to roll over into other weddings. We could just change times if needed or add new fields. Also having a PRINT option is also important as we would take the final timeline with us to the event just as we do our wedding day questionnaire.

So, those are my two cents :) Thanks for considering and working on this feature to make ShootQ the BEST!!  :)

Here is my take on how I believe this can be (easily?) done. If it works how I imagine, the info will easily cross over the the "my wedding" client area. So all shootq is doing is adding additional field that we can fill out for the wedding timeline or agenda. One note: I agree that this is a HUGE feature that is missing. Whether you are a photographer, DJ, wedding planner or videographer we all need to use some time of timeline!

My idea:

Currently, the "event details" tab has fields for Ceremony and Reception. I would love an additional colum for "Other" or "Timeline" I want this added to the existing window so that everything is on one page making it easy to fill out and complete.  I need the additional fields to provide more info about the wedding timeline. For example, I want to be able to place the wedding timeline here. A simple "Detail" and "From" "To" field would be perfect! Even better something that covered the "who, what, when and where" for the item.

For example this is how I picture the fields:

Timeline Details

Event: Formal Portraits Location: at the waterfall From 3:00 To 4:00 Who: Brides Family Grooms Family

I want this information in this location so that the client can see it in their "my wedding" tab of their client portal. If this can't be done, a notes field added to this section or to the "my wedding" tab would be helpful.

I just put a plain text timeline in the remarks section.  This is a bonus, because the remarks get copied to the calendar event, so I can see a timeline for the wedding right from my calendar.  Actually works pretty well.
