How do I specify options on a product that I offer?

In ShootQ, you now have the ability to specifiy “Options” on your products such as finish, color, size etc.  When you're setting up your pricing you also can assign an associated cost to these additional options you’ll offer your clients.  Now, when you're creating a proposal or an additional order, if your client knows which option they'd like, you'll be able to include this in their proposal/order.

This feature is designed to help organize your studio price list so that your pricing list can be kept to a more manageable size and so that you'll have the ability to better track the different options that your clients choose to purchase.

To specify options, navigate to Settings > Pricing.  Choose the product you’d like to add the options to and click Edit.

First, select the Kind of Option - this is where you'll specify whether the option is a finish, size, cover style, etc.

Next, choose the Value for this option.  For instance, if the option is  a leather cover, the Values could be black, brown, etc. You can add more Values to accommodate additional colors, etc that your studio offers.  Just click Add more Values.

Assign the extra price (retail price) for the option as well as your Cost of Goods Sold.

Does this only work when my client "knows which option they'd like"???  I'd like to have options for the client to actually select themselves when choosing ad-ons during the booking process.  They should also be able to see photos of the different options, or have the single image change to the selected option when a choice is made.  For example, I want to have "Add album" as an option.  I want the client to be able to select from a drop-down menu when this option is selected, with the 3 values clearly available.  When "Ostrich" is selected, they should be able to see an image of this.  It isn't very useful if I'm the only one that can choose an option.

Hey Eric! Right now,  ShootQ doesn't have the options available for the client to select these for themselves.  At this point, the feature is designed for helping photographers keep their pricing more organized and improving reporting.  Under the hood, this is a pretty complex feature to implement, so the feature was split into a few steps of implementation.  In the future we definitely want to expand this feature so that it can be more exposed on the client side.

We're going to continue making improvements to this feature so that it will continue to be more useful! Thanks for your feedback and keep it coming!

I'm with Eric, I completely understand the development point of view but from a usability stand point real value is added with the functionality that Eric describes. As long as it's on the development to-do list.

So as far as additional spreads go, if I wanted the option of up to 5 additional spreads, I would just 'add more values' to the Additional Spreads option and double the cost, and repeat x5?

Hey Ty,

In this case, I would actually recommend that you just create a separate product called "additional album spread" with whatever price that is.  Then, if the client wanted to have 5 additional spreads, you'd create an additional order for that "product" (additional album spread) and make the quantity 5.

Hope that helps!

I was excited that ShootQ added the ability to customize product options, so I took out all the different customizable items from my pricelist and replaced them with new ones that use the product option functionality. Disappointing when I tested out my new pricelist only to find out clients can't see the different options! Until this functionality is added I really think the Edit Product page should mention this!

I just spent three days doing exactly what Craig did, and to say it nicely I am very angry to find out how USELESS these product options are!    When is this going to be fixed?

It is disappointing that this feature still isn't fully implemented. It's a nice feature if I didn't want to use the public pricing pages of ShootQ, but it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to roll it out and still not have it fully implemented over 6 months later.

I agree.  I keep sending in product requests, but seems like they cannot get Nimbus out anywhere close to on time why would we think they are going to get this feature implemented?

Now I setup my pricing with all the options and made the pricing page utterly useless.

I'd also like to know if this is updated yet. Currently I let my clients know that these are beginning prices and then have a product sheet that shows the options and pricing. It would be great for them to see this online.

Clients are not able to see the options available for them on pricing pages, making the self generated quote misleading due to the fact it only takes into consideration a quantity of 1 or 0, with the lowest priced option as the default. This seems like an obvious must fix, both for photographers clients to see actual pricing making the sales process smoother with less sales pitch needed for the increased pricing in final discussions, but also for Pictage to allow our clients to see what prices actually are, not scaring off the purchase of more or larger items.

If it's a complex feature to implement, fine. But why is there *STILL* no warning on the customization page that clients won't see the options and it's for internal use only?! Is it really that hard to add a little snippet of text to a page?

Also, I can't help but feel like we are being ignored.
