Shoot Types

suggested this on July 13, 2010 13:09

Please, please, please allow an option in the shoot types to create a "Custom Wedding" type, or the ability to duplicate the wedding type (then rename it). That way those of us who do photography and videography can have our shoot types separated without having to loose all the valuable wedding details from our contact page and ultimately from the individual shoots. I think ShootQ is a very powerful tool, and I love it so much I've been telling everybody about it... But, this one little thing is frustrating to me, it just seems like such a simple fix/change. Please help my dreams come true and make ShootQ perfect...

YES YES YES!! AMEN!!!  Soooo very frustrating- I can't track how many of each I have video only vs photo only vs combo in the wonderful business statistics you have....additionally I have resorted to naming the shoot the shoot type so I can see what I have comin up for the month...please!  seems like an easy one!

Seems like an easy fix...  Currently there is a pad lock next to the wedding shoot type, which means at some point somebody decided to lock us out of the edit process.  Just remove the pad lock and add an edit & duplicate buttons!

Ok, this is really getting frustrating...  Please fix this, it seems like it would be so simple?  Here's a suggestion if you don't or can't give users access to the shoot type inner criteria:

- CREATE TWO MORE "WEDDING" SHOOT TYPES.  ONE CALLED "WEDDING VIDEO" AND ONE CALLED "WEDDING COMBO" OR EVEN "WEDDING OTHER".  Of course these shoot types need to have the same information fields as the regular "WEDDING" shoot type.

Please take a look at this it would make my world so much easier and allow me to get way more out of ShootQ.

Thanks,

Sean

Seems like something that's being tested...? I've seen it on a few other sites using the shootq contact form, here's an example: http://app.shootq.com/public/farmwood_press/contact  Another here: http://app.shootq.com/public/boucher/contact

Right now I don't use the ShootQ contact form on my site at all, because I don't like the options of baby, etc, showing up and confusing people about what I do. Looking forward to this being in effect for everyone...

Hey Kacy,

You know you can choose which shoot types your peeps see on the contact form.  Its in the settings for the contact page I believe.

Yep I know that - I shoot portraits, but not all of the sub-options that automatically pop down - Right now if I leave "Portrait" as an option, the following pop down below that: Baby, Senior, Family, Corporate, Other. If there's a way to change or hide those I must be missing it. I don't want to just leave it as "Wedding" or "Other," because when clients choose "Other" it asks event date, etc, which is also confusing to them.

Kacy,

Also, I'm not sure you quite understand exactly what this request topic is about...  There is actually alot more info besides event date and location that goes with the "WEDDING" shot type.  It goes into several other items (ceremony loc, recep loc, start and end times, etc.)  Furthermore, this info is accessible and able to be edited from within the client side also.  So even if they dont fill it in as a new lead they can get it later when they book.  BUT, as it is right now you cant even get these fields to fill in for any other shoot type except for "WEDDING".  ShootQ needs to get on this!  This should be an easy fix that will save a lot of people a lot of headaches.

Agreed, I think I'm confusing myself just looking at this, haha - Now that I'm looking at the two links I put before, they still have the "event date" options etc below which is what I don't want. At first glance I thought they were totally customized, my mistake. So I suppose I'm on a different subject entirely! Long story short, just wish the contact form were more customizable - Right now I don't want portrait inquiries to have to deal with an "event date," etc, which is why I skip the form altogether and input leads via email.

Kacy,

You can set the shoot types a users sees right at the top of the settings page for the contact form.  (settings>contact form>available shoot types)

Sean,

I do see that. What I'm getting at is no matter what the shoot type, it will drop down to ask for date and location - Options I haven't gone over with potential clients at the time they inquire, which has caused confusion in the past. Probably should have been more clear in the beginning and/or started a new thread on that subject, but my mind is in a NyQuil daze so my apologies :)

Kacy,

Ok, i got it now...  Yes, so you are actually are having the same problem as everyone else in this string.  You need to be able to customize the fields of info within a shoot type.  You are in the right spot, my apologizes.

No worries!! Like I said the NyQuil has my brain a little wonky these past few days, so I'm sure there's been a major disconnect between my brain and the words that I'm typing! :)

Why isn't this done yet?! I have having to create and enter roles and groups and name my shoot in a certain way.. just to be able to track this info which could be automatic if we had this option!! Wasting time shoot q is supposed to be saving me  ; o (

Please shoot Q hear our plea!

Please...  ShootQ.  My year is booking up quite nicely and I am lacking A LOT of basic information for each shoot because of this.  Please fix this and make my life easy.  At least do me this favor, if it's not ever going to be fixed send me an email or give me a call and let me know so I can come up with a different way to separate my shoots before the other half of my bookings for the year come in.  THIS IS A BIG DEAL TO ME, PLEASE FIX!

Hey everyone, I know this has been open for a long time.  We are aware of this request and we're still working on implementing it in a future release.  I don't have a time frame yet, but I've increased the priority for our development team.

Thank you!  That actually sounds like some good news.  I'm anxiously awaiting the day I can have my clients actually enter some information about they're weddings into my ShootQ account.  This is a major problem...

Still patiently waiting for this...  I do have another way you could fix the issue... Just have the the package the client ordered be displayed under the Shoots listing if you are unable to edit/change the shoot types for your users. BOTTOM LINE... I need to be able to see at a glance what type of shoot my clients booked: a photo package, a video package, or a combo package.  These are all WEDDINGS. I dont want to sacrifice all the "wedding details" from each shoot.  This is too much information for me to enter in other locations manually.  The way it is right now each one my shoots is missing way too much info that there is not even a spot to place within ShootQ.

Com'on at least explain to me why this is not as easy of a fix as I think it is...  REMOVE THAT LITTLE PAD LOCK AND LET ME DUPLICATE THE "WEDDING" SHOOT TYPE.  That's easy right?

I also would like the padlock removed (I don't shoot weddings) it would also be nice to sort the Shoot Types manually (don't sort them alphabetically)

This is big for us.

There are a lot of thoughts about this, but as I understand it is:

Custom Fields based on Shoot Type

For us, it's all about TIME.  We primarily cover events, and we really would like to be able to specify start and end times as well as location when booking our gigs.

I see a lot of advanced options for weddings (which we don't do at all) as well as Time & Location for portraits (which we do occasionally).  These fields also appear to be available as VARIABLES in contracts and email templates.

We really would love to be able to configure some of these types of fields for what we do most!

I don't see how this can be so difficult.  Even if you could add the options under the "other" so we could record time.  This is very frustrating and apparently has been on the "to do" list for a long time.

Remove the padlocks.... Allow us to add another type (baby, child, family) etc so we can see in the shoot section what kind of portrait we have coming up and allow all the additional information to be included also (just like portrait does)  Make it more custom

Com'on guys...  This one's been sitting here for a while.  This seems like it should be such an easy fix; REMOVE THE PAD-LOCK or LET US COPY THE "WEDDING" SHOOT TYPE.  I'm doing way too many weddings a year to not be using the info contained in the "Wedding shoot" type.  Fix please....

I could use this also, it would be nice to have a "Wedding" and a "Wedding + Photobooth"
