Customize the Client Area

From Jeanette LeBlanc:

I would love, love, love (did I mention love) the ability to add custom information to my client portal. Pre-ShootQ I had a client guide html site that gives them access too downloadable PDF's of my pricing, my 'What To Wear Guide", a sample order form so they can start figuring out their choices, etc.

I would love the ability to add custom links to the client page so that I can include some of these items for each client.

From Justin Hackworth:

I would like to be able to add a custom tab to the client area--something that shows up in every client's section. For example, if I could add a tab that says something like "Studio Information" and then it has my address, phone number and a map to the studio. That would be great.

Yes, we would also love to have the ability to add custom pdf's to the client area, such as a pdf about engagement sessions, a place to post special offers, etc.

Also, the correspondence tab is absolutely worthless. Clients already know they can email if they have any questions.

Agreed on the non-utility of the correspondence tab. Clients will send a simple email long before they dig out their random security code, login to their client area, and send a correspondence from an unfamiliar interface.

I would love for some place in there to place something like links to their online galleries.  This would make final milestone automated email correspondence make more sense to send an email your images are online if they could be instructed to find the link in their client area.

I also agree with the PDFs.  This could be accomplished with the links as well just by us posting our PDFs somewhere and linking to them externally.

Regarding the PDFs, you can add them as Files on a shoot and choose to share them with your clients.  This will create "Files" section within your client area where the file can be downloaded.  This feature is not limited to PDFs, but any file can be saved in the client area.  This seems to be a little-known feature, so I wanted to make sure everyone is aware.

Another comment on this in regards to the "What to Wear" - I have this for my engagement sessions and have it sent out as an automatic email 2 weeks prior to their engagement session. My clients don't have to come to their portal (where they sometimes lose the password) to retrieve the information. I feed it out to them and they love the tips!

You can also use the ShootQ pricing page for all of your pricing needs, or perhaps include the link in a pre-made email that you send to them upon inquiry? Just my $0.02

What if you made it possible to share the notes just like the files.  You can add custom text and HTML links to the notes.  If they were shareable like the files then that would suffice until something more full fledged customize client area per client was able to be released.

You may be able to do this already, but years ago you couldn't... I would love to be able to customize the client page - I would LOVE to be able to add a UPS tracking # when an album, proof book, DVD, etc. is shipped.  A great tool for them, great permanent record tool for us.

Oh, and I just remembered what else would be killer to add to the client area (that may already exist) - I would LOVE to be able to add a "waiting for client response" status.  I've had clients fail to choose their images for an album or a print order, forget they had to do so before I could move forward and then wonder why the album was taking so long.  Would be even better if it could automatically send them reminders, like an invoice, until they marked it as complete or requested to opt out of the reminders.

Interesting that no one mentioned this before but client area lacks obvious feature: "upgrades".

Wouldn't this be nice if client will be aware that album can be upgraded to have more pages, that engagement session can be extended by two hours and such. How about promotions tab?

I love both of these ideas.  It lets me personalize the experience a little more, without adding work - which is always good.  Please add these features...

A custom tab would be fantastic.  Something that lets us put in anything we want for each client.  I have different things I send to different clients.  Would be nice for all their info to be in that one area so they don't have to go dig through all the emails to find what they need.  Also, speaking of emails.... if there is going to be a correspondence tab, maybe it should contain a record of all our email communications, all in one spot.  I think that would be better than the obvious "email if you need something" wording that's in there now.

Just bumping cause I would really love to see something.  Even just the ability to make notes public.  I mean that should take as long as it took to program the files to be able to be public or not.
